Ceramics from Asia hold a special place in my heart - my mother is from Thailand and my father lives in the Philippines. Having spent the last four years in Singapore, we made it our mission to explore the surrounding countries, with Japan being our absolute favourite. It would’ve been very hard for my pottery not to be influenced by Asia! The Japanese wabi-sabi ethos runs throughout my work that celebrates the beauty of imperfections. Think of it like scars on our body that have a story to tell, it’s the same in pottery; the marks left on the pot tell the story of how it was made.
